Pre-wired connectors are circular connector assemblies with factory-terminated cable attached — available as single-ended cordsets (connector + flying leads for panel termination) or double-ended cordsets (connectors on both ends for device-to-device connection). The most common sizes are M8 (compact sensors, tight spaces) and M12 (general-purpose sensors, actuators, fieldbus, and industrial Ethernet). M12 connectors use mechanical coding to prevent mismating: A-coded for standard sensor/DC power, B-coded for PROFIBUS, D-coded for Fast Ethernet (100BASE-TX), and X-coded for Gigabit and 10GbE Ethernet.
