Water leakage sensor for indoor-0

When you hear the word "flood", you may think of spring, but others may think of devastating financial losses. Flooding can occur not only near bodies of water, but also in workplaces and households. According to ConsumerView, 54% of European households have suffered major or minor water leakage damage. As we know, these can cause significant damage to furniture, floors, walls and often damage to neighbours' homes.

As a reminder, water damage indoors can seriously disrupt your daily routine! We know that dealing with floods is disruptive, but it can be avoided in time. Use appropriate leak sensors or detectors to prevent irreparable damage.

 In this article:

How to use a water leakage sensor?

To use a water leakage sensor, you first need to understand how it works. The Water Leakage Sensor works remotely by registering the presence of water on the electrodes.

In simple words, if the water sensor comes into contact with water, a signal is sent to the router, which then emails us to inform us of the incident.

As this report calls for us to act immediately, you or the emergency services can arrive in time to stop the leak before it becomes a serious problem.As this report calls for us to act immediately, you or the emergency services can arrive in time to stop the leak before it becomes a serious problem. A water detector can give you various warnings about possible flooding - water pipes, heating, roof damage, etc.

To avoid this, we recommend that you follow the tips below.

  1. The space and location of the sensor must be precisely identified;
  2. Carefully configure the device according to the manufacturer's instructions (then we can be 100% sure that the sensor will work correctly if needed);
  3. The existing switch/router must be operational;
  4. Regular e-mail availability (preferably 24 h);
  5. Once a month, check the battery status.

Where is it recommended to install a water leakage sensor?

Ūdens noplūdeMost often, a water leakage sensor needs to be installed in areas where unwanted water leaks can occur, such as the basement, laundry room, kitchen, bathroom or near the boiler, radiators and sanitary facilities.

Of course, it should be taken into account that several sensors may be needed, which is more typical in commercial premises where sensors need to be installed in sanitary, server and meeting rooms, electrical warehouses, etc.

It should be noted that the water leakage sensor is not only designed to protect the surrounding area, but also to indirectly monitor water consumption. As mentioned above, by evaluating the sensor's application, we can detect damage to the water pipe and remedy emergency situations as quickly as possible, thus significantly reducing the water bill.

Water leaks can cause life-threatening conditions

Water leakage can sometimes cause an electrical short-circuit, especially if the water comes into contact with an electrical cable or the appliance itself. As a reminder, water has excellent electrical conductivity! The combination of water and electricity can cause dangerous conditions not only for objects but also for human life. Of course, electrical installations are very safe nowadays, but there are always exceptions and unforeseen situations.
