The Altivar Soft Starter ATS01 operates as a soft start/soft stop unit for synchronous motors.
The Altivar Soft Starter ATS01 limit the starting torque without torque control system and current peaks on starting on machines that do not require a high starting torque.
On starting, the torque often reaches 150 to 200% of the rated torque, which can mechanically damage the drive. In this case, the starting current can be 6 to 8 times higher than the nominal voltage, and the resulting voltage will interfere with the operation of other devices connected to mains. Using Schneider Electric ATS01 provides limitation of starting speed and current at a certain time (after installing the soft starter, the starting current value does not exceed 3-4 times the rated value ).The current limitation is achieved by gradually increasing the voltage on the motor windings, this reducing the possibility of overheating and preventing the instant overload on mechanical part & shocks during on start or stop. Correctly selected and configured soft starter increases the life of the electric motor and mechanical parts.
