Laser surface motion sensors SICK SPEETEC 1D

SICK SPEETEC - a unique laser surface motion sensor that detects the movements of object surfaces without contact. The laser Doppler effect-based technology enables the SPEETEC to measure the speed, length, movement direction, and position of objects on almost any surface.

At a glance:

  • Non-contact measurement of the speed, length, and position of objects without measuring elements;
  • Very high measurement accuracy and repeatability with a resolution of up to 4µm;
  • Compatible with many materials, colors, and surfaces;
  • Standard TTL or HTL interface;
  • Nominal measuring distance: 50 mm ± 5 mm (static tolerance);
  • Speed: up to 10 m/s;
  • Laser class 1;
  • Rugged design, compact dimensions.

Application:

The SPEETEC non-contact measuring method makes it particularly suitable for solutions with soft, fragile, or sensitive surfaces where tactile measurement could cause damages to the surface.

SPEETEC is also ideal for encoder applications with fast and dynamic processes that are unsuitable for regular rotary encoders.

Advantages:

The SPEETEC measures without wear and delivers reliable and exact values after many thousands of hours of use.

The optical non-contact sensor prevents damage to especially sensitive materials and surfaces, such as thin film, soft rubber, fabric, or insulation material.

From raw signal to standard TTL or HTL incremental output signal:

SICK offers SPEETEC versions with different resolutions or measuring step length (resolution is measurement step (90° electrical))

  • resolution 4 µm - 16 µm value per increment measurement step (360° electrical) 
  • resolution 100µm - 400µm value per increment measurement step (360° electrical) 
  • resolution 500µm - 2000µm (2mm) value per increment measurement step (360° electrical) 
  • resolution 1000 µm - 4000 µm (4 mm) value per increment measurement step (360° electrical) 
  • resolution 2000 µm - 8,000 µm (8 mm) value per increment measurement step (360° electrical)
